Sources from the NBA Insider reported on ESPN.com that Heat management spoke with Iverson offering him a deal to come to Miami to play alongside DWade.
Don’t go shit your pants Heat fans! For this rumor to come true, Iverson would have to agree to play ONLY as backup point guard, something that he has said does not interest him. Riley has made it clear a number of times, most recently in a press conference last week, that Chalmers’ spot at the 1 is a lock.
Furthermore, Insider reported that the offer was for 1 year at $2million. Iverson’s 2008/2009 season salary was over 20 times that offer.
There are several teams who have more money to spend on the 34 year old vet, and would put AI in a position where he could at least compete for a starting role.
